9 Ways To Make Today Awesome!

Posted by on Sep 6, 2013 in Personal Development | 10 comments

Between some minor but persistent health concerns and biting off more than I can chew, the past few weeks I’ve been stuck in a funk. The worst part of being in funk is a distinct lack of awesome days. I want more awesome days!

Every day has the potential to be awesome, and having an awesome day has far more to do with my attitude than what happens that day, though of course that outside stuff can build up and make it a lot harder to have an awesome day- harder, but not impossible.

So here I am, pumping myself up for an awesome day today, and many more awesome days ahead. Wanna join me? Hell yeah, let’s do this!

9 Ways To Make Today Awesome!

01. Decide it’s going to be awesome!

Making a conscious choice about my attitude helps me be more aware and open to all the awesome stuff that happens in each day. I love that I get to choose what kind of day I’m going to have, and if I find my day isn’t going as well as I like I can reboot my day at any time.

02. Tell the world!

When I share my plans for awesomeness with people those very same people are far more likely to conspire to make it an awesome day! Who doesn’t want to get behind an awesome, ass-kicking day?

03. Put on your ass-kicking pants and kick some ass!

There ain’t no such thing as problems when I’ve got my ass-kicking pants on! I’m ready, willing, and able to go with the flow and make it an awesome day!

04. Be more purposeful!

The less purpose I have, the less awesome my day. Fumbling around reacting to what happens = not awesome. When I am thoughtful and purposeful about my day, the more awesome it is!

05. Be confident!

I have to believe I am awesome to have the awesomest possible day. And I am awesome- so are you. We’re all awesome in our own way, all we have to do is let our awesomeness shine!

06. Be awesome to everyone you meet!

If I treat people unkindly, they will respond unkindly in return. And, really, I can only be unkind when I’m bad moody and I can only be awesome when I’m being kind!

07. Be awesome to you!

If I can’t be kind to myself, I won’t accept kindness from anyone else. I’ve got to take care of myself first, and be compassionate and caring with myself to have an awesome day.

08. Get shit done!

Getting shit done is an awesome feeling and the more I get done, the more awesomely unstoppable I become! Distractions are everywhere but I’ve got better things to do.

09. Have fun doing it!

No matter what I do, I’ve got to have fun doing it- it’s just not worth it otherwise.

  1. My dear Chrysta,

First I just want to say that I hope you’re okay. No health problems have cropped up so when you mentioned concerns that light bulb went off.

I just want to say that if you EVER feel like you’re in a funk you just pick up that phone and call me girl. I’ll get you out of it in no time at all. I promise, I just have that way about me.

I never want you to be down or deal with being in a slump. I know some of the issues you have now that you’ve shared with us so I know that some things probably can’t be easily avoided but I sure as heck can get your mind off things. That I can promise you for sure and I never promise something I can’t follow through with.

Please keep that in mind okay! Now I love your tips here they’re awesome too but I’m still offering this for you! 😉

Now you go have a fabulous week okay!

    • Thanks so much for your extra awesome comment, Adrienne!

I have actually been dealing with some health issues, and on top of that I’m super sick this week and therefore late in replying to comments. I try to take good care of myself because it’s hard to stay mentally and emotionally happy and healthy if I’m not physically healthy. I do what I can, but of course everyone deals with health issues sometimes, right?

I very much appreciate your offer to give you a call, and I can imagine next time I’m feeling funky that funk will be lifted right quick after hearing hearing your cheerful voice!

      Have a terrific day!

  2. Fantastic post. I get stuck in a funk so often that sometimes I cannot find the answer to ‘whats the point of it all?’

I need all the inspiration I can get. Thanks.

    • Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting, Pattu! Getting stuck in a funk is never a good thing and, like you, I need inspiration- even if it’s just inspiring myself!

      Have a fantastic day!

  3. Hi Chrysta

Yep, I sure need a little awesome at times. Frustrated a bit with this broken wrist and can’t do all the things I want. Over stress the wrist even in the cast makes it hurt. It has given me time to appreciate the help I am getting and it has also given me time to just relax. Not everything has to be done right now, I won’t be going anywhere for awhile so there will be plenty of time later to do what I would like to be doing now.

We definitely control the way we feel or perceive how we should feel, as it is all up to us what we make out of any situation.

    Have an awesome week!

    • Thanks for your fantastic comment, Mary!

I love your insight that you don’t have to do everything now- I sometimes fall into the trap of thinking of all the things on my to-do list and feel like I need to get it all done right now but I really don’t! It’s often helpful to remind myself I can only do what I can do, and my attitude about my life has a bigger impact that what happens.

You have an awesome week, too!

      Chrysta

  4. Your positive energy rocks, Chrysta! Love them all but especially #6 is speaking to me today. When we’re awesome to everyone me meet with sprinkle their day with surprise and delight and they, in turn, help spread the awesome. :)

    Fun post! Love it!

    • Thanks for your awesome comment, Alli!

When I am in a funk it’s so tempting to allow myself to be short or cranky with others and this only invites them to be short and cranky with me- that’s not what I want! Even as I wrote this post I want glad for the reminder to myself to pay more attention to how I treat others and myself than whatever temporary cranky feelings I might have.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Have an awesome week!

  5. Hey Chrysta,

Great guide on being awesome and having an awesome day :)

Nowadays every day of the week is an awesome day for me :) I am getting this done (Well, mostly), learning new stuff, enjoying life, and loving it!

There is nothing to worry about. Everyday when I sit to write my dairy, I begin with the usual sentence – The day was awesome 😀

I think the primary reason for this is my schedule itself (I am experimenting with fixed block scheduling – time blocks allotted for each day).

At the end of day, I don’t feel any regrets 😀 Well, some days I do feel regrets. I feel like I could have a little more blog commenting or maybe a little more reading, but other that that, I feel great – I can’t seem to wait for the next day 😀

Hopefully I will be able to keep this up for the rest of my life 😉

    • Thanks for your awesome comment, Jeevan!

I’m sorry it took me so long to reply to your comment- your comment was stuck in my spam filter- ooops!

I’m thrilled to hear you’re having an awesome day every day and I agree, learning new things and enjoying life are wonderful ways to make life awesome!

I’m very inspired by your enthusiasm and positivity! Thanks so much for commenting!
