Stand Up and Stand Out In Work and Life

You’re intelligent and hardworking. You have a great work ethic. Day in and day out, you get the job done. So why aren’t you making a greater impact in your work? Why are other people getting ahead and making more money while you’re just getting by?

I see it every day- creative and talented businesswomen that are overworked, overwhelmed, and overlooked. Does this sound like you? Because it doesn’t have to be.

You’ve got so much to offer, so much value to add. It’s time to stand up and stand out in your work and your life. It’s time to get noticed! Are you ready?

I’ve been working on my workshop, Give Yourself a Promotion webinar, and speaking at several events about this idea of defining and communicating the value each of us has to offer. The value is there but for some explicable reason other people aren’t seeing it, or if they are, they aren’t rewarding it. That’s because it’s up to you!

I was poor throughout most of my school years. Not paycheck-to-paycheck poor but actual living on welfare, not having a coat in the winter poor. When I graduated high school I wanted to go to college but my family didn’t have any money to pay for school and the thought of racking up $40,000 or more in student loans when I didn’t even have wardrobe basics was overwhelming. I was struggling to barely get by.

Instead of going to college, I started working. At each job I worked hard and learned everything I could about not only my job, but other roles within the company, the organization, and business as a whole. I volunteered for special projects to expand my skill set and asked to be sent to seminars and training.

After 20+ years in business I had created a career for myself, providing high-level accounting and finance and management services. I didn’t make a career through luck or hard work, though I had both of those things, I did it by recognizing what I was good at, building those skills, and advocating for my own success.

Through my career I realized I have more to offer and my passion wasn’t in accounting and finance, but in coaching and consulting. I loved working one on one with employees and clients and helping them succeed. I transitioned from a career professional to entrepreneur, offering coaching and training. I overcame my social anxiety and became an accomplished speaker. I am living the life of my dreams!

Now you know my story and I want to know yours.
